چکیده

Let p′ and q′ be points in R. Write p′ ∼ q′ if p′ − q′ is a multiple of (1, . . . , 1). Two different points p and q in R/ ∼ uniquely determine a tropical line L(p, q) passing through them and stable under small perturbations. This line is a balanced unrooted semi–labeled tree on n leaves. It is also a metric graph. If some representatives p′ and q′ of p and q are the first and second columns of some real normal idempotent order n matrix A, we prove that the tree L(p, q) is described by a matrix F , easily obtained from A. We also prove that L(p, q) is caterpillar. We prove that every vertex in L(p, q) belongs to the tropical linear segment joining p and q. A vertex, denoted pq, closest (w.r.t tropical distance) to p exists in L(p, q). Same for q. The distances between pairs of adjacent vertices in L(p, q) and the distances d(p, pq), d(qp, q) and d(p, q) are certain entries of the matrix |F |. In addition, if p and q are generic, then the tree L(p, q) is trivalent. The entries of F are differences (i. e., sum of principal diagonal minus sum of secondary diagonal) of order 2 minors of the first two columns of A.

Distinct distances on two lines

Let P1 and P2 be two finite sets of points in the plane, so that P1 is contained in a line l1, P2 is contained in a line l2, and l1 and l2 are neither parallel nor orthogonal. Then the number of distinct distances determined by the pairs of P1 × P2 is Ω (

Double phase fault location in microgrids with the presence of electric vehicles and Distributed parameters line model

Nowadays, renewable energy is increasingly used in smart grids and microgrids to reduce the use of fossil fuels and improve network efficiency. Like all power system devices, microgrids are subject to transient and steady-state faults, such as short circuits. These faults impair reliability and consumer dissatisfaction. To accurately, automatically, and economically determine the location of a ...

Improving the Method of Location Identification and Determining the Effect of Each Flicker Source in Distribution Networks

Voltage flicker phenomenon is one of the main power quality problems in today's power networks. Before any compensation operation for this phenomenon, the location of each flicker sources must be identified and the effect of each of them on the network flicker value must be determined. Also, methods that require least number of monitoring points are more in demand due to the limitations of meas...

Distinct Distances Between Sets of Points on a Line and a Hyperplane in R

A variant of Erdős’s distinct distances problem considers two sets of points in Euclidean space P1 and P2, both of cardinality n, and asks whether we can find a superlinear bound on the number of distinct distances between all pairs of points with one in P1 and the other in P2. In 2013, Sharir, Sheffer, and Solymosi [8] showed a lower bound of Ω(n) when P1 and P2 are both collinear point sets i...

Modeling of Optimal Distances of Surveying Stations for Monitoring Astable Engineering Structures Using Geodetic Methods

Large and astable engineering structures are the great importance and the behavior of such structures is usually made in Geotechnical and Geodetic methods (engineering geodesy). In the geodetic methods, the selection of appropriate surveying stations, in terms of distribution, locations, and distant of the target points to stations the control network, have a significant role in determining th...
